AURORA, Nebraska – MAY 17, 2016 – The Georgia Public Service Commission awarded Hamilton Relay a third consecutive contract to provide Telecommunications Relay and Captioned Telephone Services for the state of Georgia. The new contract went into effect on April 1, 2016 following a competitive procurement process.
Georgia Relay, a program of the Georgia Public Service Commission, provides 24-hour service that allows individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking to communicate with family, friends and businesses over the phone.

“Relay service is essential for thousands of individuals in Georgia who rely on the service to communicate independently over the telephone,” said Tonika Starks, Contract Administrator for Georgia Relay. “Hamilton Relay’s long history of providing high-quality call processing and outreach services in Georgia over the past ten years was an important factor in the selection.”

Hamilton was first awarded the contract to provide Relay service in the state of Georgia in 2006. Hamilton has since provided outreach and education to thousands of individuals in Georgia, sharing information about the life-changing benefits and resources available through Relay and Captioned Telephone Services.

Upon receiving the initial award in 2006, Hamilton Relay opened a Relay Service call center in Albany, Georgia. In 2014, Hamilton expanded its workforce again in Albany by adding Captioning Assistant positions. Currently, the Georgia center is in the midst of another expansion as the demand for Relay and Captioned Telephone Services grows nationally.

“Hamilton is pleased to have the opportunity to continue providing service to the state of Georgia,” said Dixie Ziegler, Vice President of Hamilton Relay. “We are thankful for the support we’ve received from the state and its residents and we remain committed to delivering the professional service they’ve come to expect from Hamilton Relay.”
