Aurora, Nebraska – March 21, 2016
Hamilton Telecommunications today announced that it has installed a new softswitch, the Metaswitch VP6010 Integrated Softswitch, replacing its previous Lucent Digital 5ESS Switch. The recent installation allows the company to offer new residential and business calling feature services available in its local telephone exchange. Hamilton Telecommunications offers a full range of residential and business voice services and will be adding greater capabilities, including customer management of features through a web portal, to complement its robust telecommunications and broadband DSL Internet service offerings.

“Over the past few years, we have known that our existing switch was reaching the end of its useful life. We have been investigating several different paths to replacing the Lucent switch, and with the Metaswitch VP6010 we found the right combination of advanced technology and affordable cost of ownership that will allow us to continue adding new features along with ensuring we have quality service and stability,” said John Nelson, CEO Hamilton Telecommunications. “We are now positioned to bring even greater value to our existing voice features for our customers.”

With a long history and strong track record of providing reliable and high quality telecommunications and broadband services, the company looks forward to delivering more feature options for both residential and business customers. Beginning March 28th, the company will begin transferring customer lines from its existing Lucent Digital 5ESS switch to the new Metaswitch platform. For the first time in our history, this platform will allow us to complete a transitional phase over a period of time, rather than moving all customers at once. This will keep the process much more stable and give us time to complete the process. Most customers will not notice a change in their service during this transition, although there may be a few minor changes in how a customer accesses their service. For a short time, and in rare instances, Caller ID Name display may not appear on some calls as we are transitioning customers from one platform to the other. For questions on current features, customers can contact the business office at 402-694-5101.

“Moving forward with Metaswitch is another example of our continued investment in the latest technology,” said Nelson. “We are committed to delivering high quality services for our customers both now and well into the future.
